RNC Compressor (Updated August 2010)

One famous reviewer (Craig Anderton, I think it was) said he's heard 2000 dollar compressors as good. Bass Players were talking about it. I figured maybe somebody put class converters on it and a good algorithm inside. So I bought one on a lark. Its cheap. 175.

Big mistake. Audible noise, no headroom. I tried it against a Behringer composer and it sounded grainy.

I tried to tame a kick and it didn't begin to do the job. Difficult to control, no xlr inputs. Maybe ok for a bass player who can set it and forget it but I think I wasted my money. Craig, what were you thinking? Maybe there’s a worse 2000 dollar compressor out there but it sure would be a rip off. Tedrank *. (dashed expectations).
