The BP2300 Bass Guitar Cabinet
This was designed for club musicians who want a lightweight cab that will go very low, and reasonably loud, and be light compared to the equivalent "box".
Its made using a tube covered with carbon fiber. That's right, the stuff stealth fighters are made from. Its very light, and 7 times stronger than steel. The tubular shape, by itself, provides an enormous amount of strength. The whole thing weights less than 40 lbs - with one of the heaviest 12" drivers made. The cab is tuned to 32 hz, and you can hear that fundamental just fine, as opposed to so many boxes that get louder, but do not really go low. You can't really hear that until you are pretty far back from the box, but, it does deliver.
Your combo head can sit right on the handles. We've added a rubber coating to the handles so it won't vibrate off. The handles also provide additional structural strength.
The driver is an Eminence Omega pro 12. It handles 700 watts. The current design includes a sophisticated passive roll off to protect the driver from subsonic frequencies, and a high pass filter to protect the tweeter. We use Bass Box Pro as our design tool.
The baffles are 1" mdf - tough, with truck bed liner coating. The internal damping is very expensive acoustic foam.
The length of the box creates a quarter wave cancellation at about 150 hz - right in the mud zone - so putting it against al wall actually makes it sound better not muddier. wow.
Fabrication and design was done in Partnership with Engineering wiz Chris Meade at Voodoo Custom Guitar Works.
Finally, this thing has vibe. It looks cool, sounds amazing, and it fits in your car. Its very hi fi, and its long throw - made to be used in a club where the bass player may not have the benefit of being put through the PA. It carries like a suitcase - and you won't find them at guitar center. Email me if you want one. We will make you one for $700 - to your spec. We can even use yellow kevlar if you want eye popping color, different driver's or crossovers, bigger smaller, sealed or ported. We've toyed with a honeycomb design in which you could stack any number of cabs in a matrix for those big shows.
The only drawback - is that it sits down low - its only 18" high - so unless you point it at yourself, its more difficult to hear that a taller cab. But... the audience hears it just fine, and the fix is easy.... by propping up the front end, you can hear it better. So if its "more me" you need, this may not be the cab for you.
