Dark Moll is a brand of Traditional Irish players who live and perform frequently in this area. Due to the usual wanderings, they are not playing any more. The Album, which took two years to make sounds lovely. Don't take my work for it - Here's what the press had to say about it:
"
The crisp, organically produced Animal Tracks is loaded with 14 flawless tracks of jigs, reels and tunes, interpreted by the band with a natural soul and grace. Largely an instrumental effort, the album rolls like the Irish hills, as the accomplished band members perform on banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, bodhran and other instruments I couldn't spell if it weren't for Google. If you are a fan of the traditional sounds of Ireland and its Celtic cousins, you'll be hard pressed to find a better disc made by contemporary players"Mike Breen, Cincinnati CityBeat
personally, I like the fact that the reviewer comments on the production. It just does'nt happen very often.
I am including my two favorite sets from the album. The second one was cut live in the room with only three players, and it came out perfectly. John Brennan's of Sligo/ Gan. Anm. I also include the first set called "The Slildes" . In this record my role as producer was to say "good enough". These musicians are all perfectionists, and it was very difficult for them to all feel every part was as good as could be. When you add it all up, however, its marvelous.
You can find out a lot more about the group at their website.
